Musing on Going Gray...or Grey...or Silver....

A week or so back I was at the store and grabbed a box of hair dye out of habit. I brought it home and there it sits on top of my bathroom dresser! I keep looking at it and thinking..ok got to do that today. Hmmmm...

I have dyed my hair for quiet a few years now..blond streaks now and again, red which I love and brunette more often than not. I found my first gray hair on my 30th birthday LOL!!  My mother did too..dye her hair. I remember my mother's hair..it was thin and so very soft. She hated her natural color. She had mousy brown with yellow-gray hair..she complained about it. Wished it had been a lovely silver. I spent many a wonderful afternoon doing her hair. I miss that! I miss her.

Seriously though..I really do not mind being older.  Being in my 50s is kinda nice! Body changes have been a little tricky but over all a really wonderful thing! I have been blessed with a lack of nasty menopause symptoms. BLESSED! I am a pretty happy girl over all. So a few wrinkles really do not make me feel less attractive. I feel well like..good wine! Aged nicely with a good splash of wisdom and a dash of fruitiness.

So what am I going on about here...well..pride really I guess. I have been blessed with something my Mother was not.. delightfully silver hair! Now that I have had it for a couple decades LOL..I kinda like it. Ok, well I like it a little bit..I think! I have been toying with the idea of letting it grow out for a couple months and seeing what I think. Maybe I will love it...maybe I will hate it and feel frumpy. But I just might feel, well.. freed! What do ya think...would you..do you..are you? What do you think? I would love to know!
Happy Saturday all :)

I started going grey at 25. I've never dyed my hair. The odd thing is that once I hit middle age, the pace of greying slowed. I can't even be called salt-and-pepper yet and I'm nearly 56. WTF? I expected to be dramatically silver by now!

I have a dear friend who used to dye her hair blond and then decided -- to heck with that -- let it grow out and now. Well. She is gorgeous! Beautiful *silver* hair. Go for it!!!!

I think it just kinda depends. If my hair turns all silver but is still full then I'll keep it. Problem in most women in my family have hair that thins. That doesn't look so good when its gray.

If you like it, keep it!

I saw my first grey hair at 25 and dyed my hair ever since and could pass for 10 years younger. 2 years ago I started having skin outbreaks after coloring my hair and the Rheumatoid doctor said I could thank the Lupus for that. No more hair color, silver hair and I look every bit of 70! Would be great except I'm 62 :)

Like minds think alike! I recently posted about my grays recently too.

I personally am not a fan of them on my head (to put it mildly) but ladies with that gorgeous silvery make me a bit jealous. I'm pretty sure my gray hair will not be attractive so I'll be coloring it for a very loooong time.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

I found my first grey hair at 18, my son has had a grey streak since he was a teen too. I've always dyed it, currently I'm "cyber purple" but I did try growing it out last year. I'd LOVE to be a silver fox, but I'm still boring old "pepper and salt" so I guess I'll either stay dyed or actually dye it silver. now there's a thought!

Oh! I just can´t sit still for so long at the hair dressers so I go for months and months getting greyer and suddenly Off to the dressers I go. Lol.
