A New ACEO....And A Color Test

Here is a new little ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") in my new series of little quilting pieces. I decided to do a little one and add color to this one first before I tackled the color on the larger one (here) which is 8"x8". Sometimes when you do a piece that you are fond of and took a great deal of time to create...adding the first bit of color is a scary thing!! So I though I would do a little one first and test out the colors..what do ya think? Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday!
Namaste, Sarah

  1. What a good idea to do a small version first! I like your colours - they are nice, warm and friendly.

  2. I absolutely understand what you mean about attempting to put the color on....you are so smart to do it on a smaller version first! I love you and your wee bee is adorable.

  5. You've got to remember that I'm looking at my computer screen, and not your actual art, but I love the honey tones that you've managed to find .they give a warmth and depth that just yellow doesn't do on it's own. And for that reason, the hearts sort of pale in comparison to everything else. I love the higlighting of the bee's bumbly body! That is simply perfect! Perhaps if you were to shade the hearts a little more to plump them up too. I realize they are in the border, but because of their brighter color, they keep jumping out at me, drawing my eye away from the delightful bee and his bloom. The honeycomb cells are wonderful! And overall, it is delightful!

  8. Your Pen and Inks always have so much character, but when ***you*** add color, it's always like it's just becoming a more perfect version! :) Kudos on always working through that fear:)
