Gung hay fat choy!!! May your new year be blessed!! Of course it is the year of the dragon which I am loving!!

I know...I have been missing in action. It has been a bit crazy here. A new semester has started and I am trying to get my feet under me. Harder classes this semester and lots more homework. Fascinating though..which is wonderful! Orders have been rolling in which is also good..but keeping me busy, busy, busy! Top it all off with the fact that Jim has been laid off..and well..I have been a bit overwhelmed.

But...it is Pie Day...rather than Pi Day..actual Pie Day..so I thought I should pop in and serve a bit of pie and coffee..cause I have been gone for weeks and I miss you all so much. I promise to be a better blogger. Frankly it has been an odd start to the year but I have this funny feeling that it is what it is suppose to be! Strangely...I am calm. So ..to celebrate today...it is pie and coffee! Can I get you a slice and a cuppa?? Hugs all, Sarah

Horse Love and a New WIP....

As most of you know I have a passion for horses. I rode for years and miss it like crazy! So it is not uncommon to see a horse or two in my work. Here is a new work in progress..only partially complete ink work..but am having fun with this one! Click on the picture for a larger view. What do ya think??

Jim surprised Nonni and I with tickets to this amazing movie last night. He and Fox stayed home and played with Skyrim..go figure LOL!! So we went..we both fell in love with this movie. To be honest.. I miss my boy..below. This movie reminded me of my sweet Stormy. Still miss him like crazy to this day!

Yup is me...hard hat and all LOL!!

So if you are a horsey lover..or just up for an amazing film..this is the one I am recommending. I don't do that very often..but I love a good film..add a horse and an amazing story..I am there!!

Wishcast Wednesday..wish deep..

Our dear Jamie asked us to answer this wish today...What is your deepest wish?? As always she taps into whatever I seem to be working on , because she is amazing that way! Back in November I wrote this post. I had lightening sizzling around me and new challenges being brought to the table by my Muse! I have been working on this for the last month..thinking on and contemplating the direction I shall go. Now that my classes are done for the semester and I have a few weeks..it is time to let the lighting loose and see where it strikes!

I know I have spoken of this before..illustrating..I want to seriously make this happen. I am making connections and working towards understanding the process of offering up my work for this purpose. I love the fact that as an artists..what ends up on the paper is what was in my head. Sometimes that is a challenge. I have found my groove.

I alluded to lost passions in that post..things that I had placed on the shelf. Parts of me that have been pushing to be pulled down and used again. I didn't really say much about what that really was. Over the last couple years of blogging I have been asked to share my voice.. the singing one..the trained voice. Yeah..that one. I have pushed that away..set it aside that musical part of me. As though somehow I could make disappear. LOL, silly girl. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am going to bring that part of me forward, off the shelf and share it. Gulp..yup I am gonna share my voice here. My beautiful daughter Hanna has agreed to record something with me to offer up. Love ya hon!!

A funny thing happened after I posted that intention...a dear friend offered something to me ..something I have longed for.. a mandolin! The wish answered so quickly, thank ya hon..you know who you are!! I cannot wait to get that beauty and Let Fly with the music. I need to sing again, make music again! That creative part of me longs to be let loose. So I am posting it here..so you all can reinforce that wish!

So here it is...wishing big here!! My hearts desire is to Let Fly with the creative parts of myself. To see my artwork develop this year into an illustrating career. To be offered the opportunity to make a writer's vision be realized through my artwork. For myself..my deepest wish is to let my voice free, to sing and let that be heard. Scares that heck out of me but I am gonna follow my Muses urging and let the warrior woman in my soul Let Fly! I am gonna go big!!

HUGE Happy Dancin' going on here....

It is official...I am done with the first semester back to school! WHOOOOOOOT! I did it..I finished all my classes and I am now on vacation until about the 6th of January! I wasn't sure how this was gonna go..back to school at 51! But ya know what...it was way fun and I am looking forward to next semester! But first I am going to do some serious happy dancin', singing, watching of movies, hiking and generally celebrating!

Snow Dragons, Christmas Decor, The Moon and a Wish...

The winner of my November giveaway asked me for some blue dragons in the snow. Well as you know dragons..are fire loving little critters and it took some convincing to have them cooperate! I know the treat was suppose to be an ACEO..but this one screamed to be a bit larger..so three dragons instead of one Emmy Blue..they should arrive at your home very soon!!

I managed amid finals and orders to get the Christmas decor up. We decided to put up the tree minus the decorations due to a wee, small cat who is a bit crazy for anything that looks like a string. He tasted the branches a bit..but over all has not attempted to climb it. This morning it was still standing..whoo hoo..so I am thinking we could decorate the top half..maybe.

Did you see the moon last night??? Oh my it was beautiful. One of those moments that I deeply miss my Rebel. My little Canon is good..but not for moon shots. Still..I kinda liked this one.

OK Santa...I have been good this year! OK.. mostly good;) I would like one of these under my tree please..or in the garage, the back yard, front porch..really anywhere you would like to leave him for me! Thank you!!

Happy Dancin' and Some Favorites....

I am happy dancin' I really am!! I aced my first final and have completed three classes of six for the semester! I love Calvin and Hobbs..who better to happy dance with!

So I was thinkin' that seeing I have worked so hard all semester, this weekend I will watch a few of my favorite movies.

The Man from Snowy River and The Return...two of my all time favorite movies. Give me a good horse movie any day and Sarah is a happy camper!!

Yup am a fan of this man..but this film, Gladiator is one of my favorites. A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man coming close behind. There is something about how he is able to show you just what he is feeling without a word! I love that!

The Proposal...oh my..if you have missed this one..go rent it..I mean right now..this minute! Makes me blow coffee out my nose funny! These too are brilliant and who can resist Betty White??

I know what you are thinking..Sarah loves butt kicking, sword swinging movies. Yes..yes I do..very much so! Anything with Jackie Chan or Jet Li..I'm there!! This one is one of my favorites..and Michael Angarano is wonderful in this!

But like any good Libra..I have a butt kicking side and a softer one too. I love a good chic flick..but it has to touch me. This one..it touches me! Warning...you will sob and laugh your way through this wonderful film. And who can resist Gerard Butler? Seriously they are amazingly matched here.One of my all time favorites!!

I know you are gonna laugh at me..but I seriously cannot resist a good sports movie..I love them! The Blind Side! Bonus here..the story touches every little heart string you have! Seriously I wanna be this woman! Sandra Bullock rocks as that fast talking, no nonsense, southern firecracker!!

So I am set for the weekend..before I have to take my last three finals..I am gonna hunker on down and watch a couple of these!

Soooo Close....

One last paper to complete..just one and am about half way through it. Then.....three weeks off before we start all over again with another set of these! I know I should be moaning about that..another set. But ya know I am kinda excited really. I loved this semester! I was a bit surprised though. The classes that I thought would be easy due to my experience with special needs kiddos..not so easy. The ones I thought would be hard..not so much. Go figure. So today I am gonna finish up that last paper and then on to study for finals. Bless my professors..not one is comprehensive! Then done!!!!!! WHOOT can ya see me happy dancin'???? I so am!!

OK I did stop to play with my camera a little bit..cause well I needed the break and we did go out to the point and look for eagles...

We needed a little fresh air and an escape from their school work and mine. The house looks like it exploded..but I will get to that soon..the dishes are done at least LOL! Nope will not show you a picture of that..honest.. I will spare you!

Glitter, Beads and Sequins...and dust bunnies...

Now that I am homeschooling Fox and Nonni...we are doing lots of fun projects. Always a sucker for a good tag sale..I found several ornament kits recently for a song..no really cheap! I mad the kids wait until December to break them out. Sequins, beads, pins, ribbons and more sequins.

I discovered that Fox would rather work with the new gaming designer that we found..small wonder LOL. But Nonni..she is going to town with these. Our tree is gonna be a sparkly beauty this year. Ok.... I have been having fun with them too...I do love a bit of sparkly!!

So I don't know about what happens at your house..but I have sequins everywhere..the table..the floor..they have migrated into the bedrooms and even the bathroom. I am beginning to think that they may be breeding like dust bunnies. I hate to think what would happen if they joined forces...

K that is just scary..glittery dust bunnies! Happy Monday all!

Conversations with Muses....

You know that moment..when your Muse leans close and whispers in your ear..."Are ya ready..here we go!" It is that kinda morning. To be honest I woke feeling out of sorts and frankly a bit cranky. Everyday things have been weighing heavily on my mind. You know the bills, relationships, children, cleaning, annual checkups..that kinda thing. Keeping me far from present!

I felt unfocused and totally distracted. Basically down and in need of inspiration and support. So I did my morning rounds about the Internet..and a funny thing happened. I wandered about all the creative stuff you all were doing. Looked at art and photography and listened to a bit of new music. Got a couple hugs from folks and ya know I started to feel a little better.

It was about then that my Muse whispered in my ear.... "Sarah...are you listening...where are your pens where is your music? Have you sung something that makes your heart sing this morning? Have you drawn that dragon that is flying about your head yet? That new knitting pattern?"

Uhmmm....not yet... I have been a bit busy with...well....stuff.

"Love....there is nothing better than making your heart sing to get out of your funk. OK....are you ready...here we go!!!"

I love my muse! I really do, she knows me so well! So I am gonna let go of all the stuff..and Let Fly with a little bit of the child in myself and see where it leads me today! Wanna fly along? Is your Muse whispering in your ear this morning??

I need a vacation....do you?

Ok...so I need some coffee...and am a little bit cranky..bear like ..grrrrrrrrrrr. Do ya ever feel like you just need some time for yourself....all alone..without distractions...alllllloooooone. Ok maybe the dog can come along.

To wander about the woods on your own schedule and just contemplate what you need to consider without interruption?

To plop down on a rock and meditate as needed. Just breathe and sit?

I could go here..this works. Way atop a mountain..alone..and do whatever your heart desires for a week maybe?

I seriously need me some of this...a beauty to wander about the hills on. To just wander in the company of another non human soul. There is just something spiritual about a horse companion. I miss that!

Yup I need some serious hiking..with the dog of course..but yes! My warrior woman is pushing me to get out and get moving in serious ways..it feels good! I wanna do this..see that smile..yup..that's it!

After I do all that a good read next to a blazing fire...yup that is what I need! All alone, to contemplate whatever my Muse offers up and breathe!

So tell me where would you go if you had a whole week to yourself..what would you dearly love to do..all by yourself??

Every now and again you get one of those shots that make your heart sing. Those perfect shots that offer the subject just the way you want it to. My Hanna came by last night to share birthday cupcakes with Nonni. She looked so cute I just had to take a few shots. OMG..when I brought this one up...well I knew it was gonna be my favorite shots of her. Seriously I can't take much credit here..cause she is beautiful and photographs with ease. I would have to say..it is all her beauty that made it pop.

I know it is a bit silly but I just couldn't help it..cause this made my day yesterday! I follow Russell Crowe on Twitter. I love his work both acting and music. Let's face it the man is a hunk. His CD Songbook with Alan Doyle and his beautiful wife Danielle Spencer is one of my favorites. So yesterday afternoon I tweeted about it..and ya know what..he retweeted it. So there my little post sat at the top of his page for most of the day yesterday. Giggle..sorry..it was kinda fun to see it there. Blue Snow.....

I love that sweet spot moment in the morning and evening..if you catch it just right in the snow..all is blue. No filters or altering..just blue..beautiful azure!

We now have several inches and it is piling up..love it!! Side note..when it is 19 degrees outside and you have to go shovel...don't wear yoga pants...brrrrrrrrrrr!

More Musings and Electricity.....and muffins:)

Ya know what happens when your Muse gangs up with the Warrior Woman in you?? Well lots of intense pushing and dragging of you onto the correct path. There is encouragement and then prodding..then keeping awake at night until you get it. Which is a bit annoying really..but effective.

But as I posted here.. a few days ago..the lightening is still crackling around me! So here is the thing..if you are going to actually listen to your Muse..and I would suggest this option..you have to be ready for that warrior woman in you to step up too. Cause sometimes to make the seemingly impossible happen..ya have to be wicked brave and act.

Some would say that at 51 I should be thinking about slowing down..I am too old to be pursuing new and exciting things...uhmmmmm...I guess they don't know me real well huh? The warrior woman in me was (and still is) demanding that I be brave and Let Fly. So I did...I stepped out there and trusted that what these two were demanding of me was possible. Ya know what....it is...within 12 hours of posting my intent..things started happening..amazing wonderful things. I will be revealing all of that soon. One little hint.. I might just maybe be in the recording studio sometime soon singing with my daughter Hanna...and with the help of an amazing bloggy friend...I will fulfill a long time wish and dream of mine. She knows who she is(huge hugs)...and I will reveal all soon.

So I am asking you to day to share something with me... your hearts desire..your fondest wish for you. What have you put on the shelf? You know the ones, that you fondly pick up now and again and wonder..what if I had just......? Yes those..would you share them with me today? I would love to hear!!

Why I love where I live...

The kids and I took a hike on Tubbs Hill yesterday. A short hop and skip from our home. Beautiful woodsy hiking area by the lake.

It was a bit bracing..but refreshing and so good for the soul.

The colors are still popping a bit..at least some of them.

Snapping pics of the kids..so much fun in the woods.

If you wonder where the inspiration for my trees come from..well there it is..down the street!

The boats are about to be put up for the season..so pretty on a crisp fall day!

I just loved this shot..the lighting was so perfect. They had a blast! So did I!

Oh well how did that one get in here? Well it is true..I love a man in a kilt!! Just one more reason I love where I live!

Last Little Chickie....Birthday Girl

Ya know...I am really not sure when this happened..when she got so big..my last little Chickie!! Seems like just yesterday she was two..later this week she will be eight. I am not sure I am ready for her to grow up so soon. You can just see in this shot what she will look like at 16..yikes!

This year Nonni decided to donate that beautiful hair to Locks of Love. I was so proud of her for that! So typical of the beautifully souled child!

I love this shot..I played with the eye color just for fun. Magical child!

Before we lost our front teeth..sweet child.

Yup this pretty much says it all...life is good! Happy Birthday sweet Nonni!! Love you hon! My last little Chickie!!

Musings...Can I Let Fly??

Ya know those moments when you can feel the change coming? Like electricity in the air..just coursing through you! That moment that you sit straight up in bed and say out loud.."OMG, I get it!" When it chases you thought the day because it must be heard. Like a picture that insists on being drawn, or a song that has to be sung, a dance that must be released. Yup like that. Good change, positive change..life change.

Of course as any Muse will explain..they can get things flowing...but...we humans take that next frightening step. That leap of faith. We must open the door and walk on through it. Change..we must be willing to change and Let Fly with the new stuff. A bit scary really. Cause some of the things my Muse has been prodding me to do are things I have left behind. Maybe not intentionally..but still shelved joys. You know those things that have always brought you great joy..but you set them aside when you had children, or a career..whatever..you let them go. Some of the things are new and exciting, opportunities that are being offered up to me..but scary because I have not experienced them before.
I have always being game for a good adventure..but I have been running in a rut..time to Let Fly with the new stuff I think. Sometimes you have to leave things behind to forge forward and get the good, new stuff. So..it is a bit scary and exciting and well..electric. Will I be able to step up to the challenge? Will those old voiced speak loudly in my head? You are too old, you are too out of shape..you are going to fail. Well..maybe but I think this time I will try anyway. Succeed or fail..I am gonna Let Fly. Cause I am due for some exciting life adventures! So I am gonna be brave.

So I was wondering...have you felt this of late..that call to be brave, open the door and try something new? Put yourself on the line and Let Fly with who you could be? Shed the chrysalis and become something amazing with wings? I would love to hear about it if you would like to share with me!

I spent this morning thinking about how blessed I feel that Jim is no longer in the service..that he will be home with us for the holidays. That he is safe and well. Even though he is working out of state and I miss the man like crazy..I know he is safe. My heart is with all the men and women who are not home..who are apart from their families. Those brave who make it safe for us! Thank you all.

I could not for the life of me find a way to express this today...until I heard this beautiful song.

Bugs and Dragons....New WIP

Seriously..I have had the stomach flu since Sunday and am kinda sick of dealing with it. Still feeling a bit punk..but on the mend..I hope.

I had hoped to post this WIP several days ago..but here is the newest piece.. Dragon's Rest. Honestly I tried to get them to go out and play..but the cold drove them right into the living room..now they are laying about all over the place. All cozy and warm. Smart, bitsy dragons!

A New Dragon WIP....

This piece started out about 6"x5"s..but ended up 8 1/2"x 11". I just kept drawing..the woods seemed to need more trees and dragons of course. So here is the first WIP for "Dragons Rest" . Color is next..and several little bitty fun pieces are on their way too!!

I was at the thrift store the other day and I saw this. Beautiful, unfinished quilt. I thought..well there must be something wrong with it. Nope, all finished but the edging! So I took a gander at the price and almost fell over..$20.00! This beautiful hand pieced quilt, almost done for $20.00! Well ya know I bought it..and I will finish this sweet piece in a flip of a lamb's tail! What do ya think...score right??

We have had this lovely garden spider on our back deck for a few weeks now. Making beautiful webs and entertaining us all. So it only seemed right to take a few macro shots and creep everyone out!

I have been knitting..and knitting and knitting..here are a couple new sets of fingerless gloves in my Etsy shop!

I think I like the purple ails better..what do ya think??

Joanna's Summer Seven...whoot!!!!

So Joanna..whom I adore..over at the Fifty Factor..is doing this fun little meme! The Summer Seven..a list of fun stuff we actually did this summer..as opposed to those we planned! I did alot of that this summer...not what I planned and a whole lot of things I totally enjoyed but didn't expect! Great idea Joanna!!! So here goes..my Summer Seven!

1.Well..the beginning of May Jim started a new job..out of state..away from us..from me. So basically it was a huge transition for everyone. We miss him and when he is home it is not nearly long enough. Over the summer we seem to have worked out the kinks..things are better. Which I feel blessed about. I also feel blessed that thanks to Jim..we are now ahead of our bills instead of behind them!!! I also managed to walk over 150 miles, cause he has the truck!!

2. Well the weather here was COLD! Cool and rainy and cold and colder!! Until the beginning of August the weather hovered around 65 or so! So we didn't swim in the lake much and my veggies were not really happy with me..but the flowers and herbs..heavenly happy! As for me, the cold weather girl...heaven too!!! I am happy to say that after a couple of very warm weeks..we are back to lovely cool 70 degrees!! Whoot! Fall is a coming!

3. Well..I did it..I went back to school! I am, if you didn't already hear..a Jr. at the University of Idaho! I am a Vandal...whooot!!!!! I am pulling a full load of classes! Which scared the crud out of me..but I have it pegged now and am moving right along! I am thrilled, excited, stoked..well you get the idea!! I am finishing my degree in Child Development and Family Services. This took a huge amount of time to put together..transcripts and appointment etc etc etc...but I did it and I am a bit proud of me!

4. Thanks to Joanna and a wonderful contest she offered..and WHOOOOOOHOO I won! Added to a treat that Fox had won for good grades at school...we had enough movie gift certificate bucks to go to the movies! Fox, Mhanon and I!! With treats and pop and well..it rocked!!
I know that does not seem like such a big deal! But we had not been to a real live movie in over ten years! I'm serious! We just could not afford it! We saw the last Harry Potter movie! It rocked too!! We had such fun! Thank you again Joanna!!

5. Well..we can't forget the new kitten! Who is now a half grown cat and has happily fit right into our home! Even he and Lucy Lu have become buddies and I love that. Sir William has turned into a wonderful addition to out home and I love the little guy! If you missed the post..the kids saved their money and I added some artwork sale to the pot to save for him!

6.. Unlike years past, I planned to hit the farmers market several times..and well..didn't, this year we have! We have been at least 7 or 8 times this summer and I have so loved it. The kids have enjoyed it too! We also managed to hit the fair and enjoy the animals and rides. Despite it being one of the few VERY hot days of the summer..we had a blast.

7. Ok..I did get myself one fun treat this summer. Something I have wanted for a while. A bitsy Ipod Shuffle. Oh I love it...LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE it. I know it is pink..and I am not really a pink girl..but well...it spoke to me! Your gonna laugh..but I even got pretty pink headphones. Seriously the best part of having an ipod of any kind (am guessing here) is playing on iTunes! I can add, subtract, buy, download my own Cd's! OMG I am loving this...so freaking much fun! I have been careful to not buy too many songs..as it is tempting and dangerous at best! But there are a few soundtracks that I have only found there! Like yesterday..I found the main theme for last years season of Dr. Who. I know I am a total geek! But it seriously made me smile. You know silly smile!

A Day at the Fair

We spent Friday..all day at the fair. Myself, my friend Abby, Fox, Mhanon and a couple daycare kiddos! We had such fun.

We had to look at all the critters of course!!
Isn't he beautiful..I do so love the horses..any size at all!!

I loved this shot..even though he had just had a bucket of feed and his nose was all covered...so cute!!

Mhanon tried her hand at milking...giggle. And oh....you might notice her hair is much shorter..she donated it to Locks for Love. So proud of that girl!!

She also tried her had at spinning..a child after her Mama's heart!!

Fox had to try his hand at shooting..of course! He did amazingly well!! OMG he looks like a man all the sudden...geesh when did that happen????

Then..what is the fair without a few rides?? Can't you just hear the squeals of delight??

So if ya have not been to your local fair...head on out and enjoy..cause it is the highlight of our summer!! Back to school in a week..and I think maybe..just maybe I am ready..maybe!

OMG, OMGOB...I am so busy chasing my tail..I had to stop for a minute and just say howdy and breath!!

Started classes Monday..all online and it has taken all this time plus part of last week to freaking figure out what to do. You guys know me..I am pretty good with the computer stuff. The lack of order in some of my classes is kinda shocking really! Seriously I have spent more time trying to figure out what is due this week than actually doing anything. I will figure it all out and get my ducks all in a row. The problem right now is..that there are about 50 of them and they don't feel much like being wrangled.
Am thinkin' I am needing a big one of these!!

Anywhoo...wanted to pop on in for a second and say hello! I will be back when I get these pesky ducks wrangled!! Wish me luck....yeeee haw....

Musing ... going to ground.....

I was recently told that I tend to disappear when things get rough in my life. Uhmmm... yeah I do. I guess I knew this..the whys and where fores not so much..but I knew. Sometimes when life gets a bit crazy and overwhelming I do hole up and hide. I guess I had not realized that others noticed too. Hmmmmm. We all have our coping mechanisms..things we tend to do when we have a rough day, month or God forbid a year! I guess the question is, do we realize we are doing them and are they the best option?

This dear friend of mine let me know that I would write or call after the fact..after the crisis had finished and I was upright again. But in the middle of being run over by a train...I put my big girl panties on and dealt alone...ALONE! Well..somewhat..cause there are a couple folks that I vent to..which is good. But generally those are folks who I talk to via email or the phone. Not people whom I call and say.."can you come by and help me with this". Or..."I am so overwhelmed can you watch my kids for an hour while I take a walk?" Now keep in mind there are a couple dear folks I can call and do just that..so why don't I you ask?

Well here it is in a nutshell. Cause I hate to ask for help. I can do it all myself, I can be the strong one..blah blah blah. Seriously it does not help and frankly it is a little arrogant to think that I can do all and be all and be a functional person, partner, parent and friend. Cause sometimes you just need a break to be yourself..to take care of you and breath!!

Now that Jim is working out of state full time..home now and again for a week. I am on 100% of the time. When he is home he is taking a break..I am taking care of him too. Don't get me wrong I am happy he is here as much as he can be. I just don't think I realized how little break I was getting. Add to that three and a half months..only about four weeks of it with a car. Uhmmmm....hello Sarah!!!

So what clued me in that I was a bit..lets say..stressed out. My friend of course, but there are always clues that we have gone to ground. I watch movies! I watch lots of movies...tear jerkers, emotion evoking stories, stories I can escape into. Books, piles of them litter the table next to my bed. I fly through them, seeking escape in to someone else's life for a little bit. Of course I get cranky and no fun what so ever to be around. I drink too much caffeine cause I am burned out and tired..which only creates other issue. You get the picture..ackkkkkk.

Now, not to say that a little of this is not a good thing. The movies and reading. Ya just have to take a close look at it and gage when your Muse is speaking to you.

"Uhmmmm, hello Sarah...you are in need of a wake up call..this is it....WAKE UP! You have gone to ground. Your big girl panties are pulled up, you are taking care of everyone but yourself. This is not helping anyone, least of all you. Stop, breath, take a bit of time for you, breath, let go of it all for a bit, breath, smile, find a little joy and breath. Just be for a little while!"

Yes, I see it now, I will try to breath today. Deep and cleansing and do something for me that brings a little joy to my soul. Thank you!

Do you find yourself going to ground? Hiding away from it all, escaping. Are you ignoring the elephant in the room. That you are not taking care of you? Is your Muse yelling at you to listen and you are happily turning on a movie..really loud. I would love it if you shared your thoughts with us!!

Thank you for pulling up a chair with me today. Ya know I love it when you pop in and say howdy. There are cupcakes...delicious flavors with butter cream frosting. You know those little bitty ones. Friday My town Shoot out... Rust...

This weeks subject is rust..rusty...here are a couple ore carts. We found them sitting outside an old mine in the Silver Valley. Believe it or not these for about $1500.00 for folks yards. People put flowers in them!!

One fun jobs I learned over the years..working in interesting places ...is a Barrista. I adore coffee..making one of those foamliscious lattes is so fun! This is one of the large professional machines!

Of Princes and Demons...and bitsy acorns..

Clearly the kitten has decided that he is royalty here..he resides in not just one castle but two. Because of the circle on his chest..that truly looks like a feather... this little kit is now..Prince William of Featherheart. Our last Guinea pig was Sir Hamlet, Guine of Pig. What can I say?

So Fox...12 has been working on a role playing game for over a year now. It is extensive, involved and frankly..I am a bit blown away by it! Not to mention really proud of him. He has involved his friends, creating characters and stories! Seriously this kid is gonna do something amazing! So when he came to me and asked if I could do an artists trading card for him...or ten LOL. What could I say but You Bettcha! So here is the first one..a demon.

He gave me an idea of what he wanted..and I went with it...so here is our first trading card..needs a background and a bit of tweaking..but what do ya think?? And you thought I couldn't do dark. I can if I try reeeeeealy hard.

August Break Day # 10..If you give a kid a Katana..

Fox and his buddies discovered my bundle of plastic fence slats the other day. Folded in half and taped with electrical tape..they make a wicked fun Katana. Wonderful for whacking at each other with..and not as painful as sticks. So when big sister Kate came by..a child after my own heart. Picking up one of these weapons and going at it with her younger brother was too much fun to resist. Did I say the apple does not fall far from the tree with these two?

Of course the younger kids had to jump in and get a swing in too. Don't worry Kate is amazing with the kids..she took care that the little guys were safe and unwhacked. Fox..well not so much. Kate and Fox had a few minor war wounds..but finished with huge smiles on faces and alot of belly laughs.

Of course when you give a kid a Katana (even a grown kid), they are gonna want a Nerf gun......

Critter Update....

We have had sweet William for about two seeks now...wow he has grown. We have learned that we love to sit by the computer keyboard and watch the screen for cats and other fun moving things:)

We love watching TV..the X Games were on..lots of action there. This just cracked me up...just like one of the kids..all stretched out and relaxed! I think he has made himself at home!

Of course we could not have waited to do this cute little pose..until Mama had finished vacuuming..but oh well..I had to share it with ya!

Lucy and Wills have made peace with each other. William is waiting his turn at the water bowl. Lucy has very gently rebuffed him when he tried to eat her food..I am proud of her..they are becoming buds..I love that!! I was hoping that would happen!

I tried to do Susannah's August Break last year..but only got part way through. So I am trying again this year. Just one picture a day..maybe a few words too, cause well..its me. If you would like to join in..click on the aqua link on my sidebar!

Of Tie Dyed Fingers...Kitten Noses and Raspberries

It is that time of the summer here...tie dye week! We do this every year..the summer camp kiddos and mine..plus a few other folks that pop by to join in. I love dying fabric..shirts..whatever. The kids love it too..and the weather was wonderful. Lots of stained shirts get renewed for another year of use!

Love those rich delicious colors!!

Of course my fingers don't come out so pretty..looks a bit like someone beat them LOL! It wears off quickly. Seriously for ages I used gloves..but after the 20th piece..all the dye is in them and they get squishy..so I just did away with the glove thing.

Who can resist a sleeping kitten ...and that sweet little nose...

We have a delicious crop of raspberries in our yard this year...yummmmmmm!

OMG SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Yup I am a winner....Thank you Joanna...I love it..it was so much fun..what a wonderful treat! Joanna and Universal gave me a wonderful treat..well me and my kiddos! Along with a wonderful t-shirt came a fun little book with sticky labels and a wonderful pen..just right for me starting school...just like Larry Crowne..yup am oldie and returning to school. Hope they are ready for me LOL! The other part of the treat was a gift card to Fandango..were you can buy movie tickets....OMG we were so excited!

You see...being low on funds..yup poor..means that things like going to the movie theater at $10.00 a head is not on the plate. We love Netflix..but there is nothing like the theater experience..nothing! I have missed going..dearly missed going. Nonni had never been..ever..not once..and Fox only twice!! So between a gift card he received as an honor student (So proud of him!!!) and the card Joanna sent..we were good to go..to the movies...to see the final Harry Potter movie.

To say it was wonderful...understatement. Did we enjoy it..OMG. Was Nonni blown away...lets just say she was doing major happy dancing all the way home!! Thank you Joanna...thank you so very much!! It was amazing..you ROCK!!

WARNING....A Rant.....

I am gonna rant..cause frankly I am a bit annoyed! This summer our city government is adding wonderful yellow nonslip grates to the corners. This is cool..cause it makes walking in the winter easier. No issue with this. They are tearing up sidewalks everywhere..and replacing them..loud, noisy work..but still ok with that really.

Nor do I have an issue with the fact that these guys are working hard..we appreciate that! But let me ask you this...it is summer..kids are everywhere..what do you think they are going to do when they see all this wet cement? You got it..write their name..make a hand print..walk their dog through it. Of course they are.
It seems that one of the crews..not necessarily those above..thus faces hidden..decided they had had enough. So yesterday..a friend of Fox's and his brother were biking. Let me say up front..these are really good kids! I know them well. They stopped and added their name to the cement. They got caught...the police were called and they are being charged..they have to go to court. WOW really! Seriously being taken home by the cops was not enough???!!!! They have to go to court for this.....

Wow! I understand the workers frustration...and that the kids shouldn't have done it..but charges and court dates..lawyers etc! REALLY! Talk about overkill.

What is this teaching our kids...not to write on sidewalks or deface things for sure, this is good! But how about..the next time someone offends them..no second chances..lenience or calm...blast away with all ya got..cause you are bent. Don't stop to consider the offending person. That you cannot expect adults to be reasonable or police to be gentle with a kid who has never been in a lick of trouble..ever. I am not saying that I condone the behavior..I told my own kids in strict manner..no writing on the fresh cement..they guys were working hard..don't mess it up! I would have expected more balance from a bunch of adults!

Hmmmmmm...I would seriously like to give that crew a piece of my mind. Cause I am thinking a good talking to by a police officer would have totally done the trick here. What do you think??

For you Pebble Puppies..The One Pebble Project!

Ya know..something I really love about selling artwork online...is finding folks that like to trade. I found Amanda on Etsy in her delightful shop..her delightful watercolors of pebbles and keys and found little things..enchanted me! I am without a doubt a rock hound and treasure hunter. My hubby...a mineralogist..my kids..all pebble puppies. Were ever we go..we all walk with our heads down looking for little treasures. Seriously even in the water..with masks and snorkels LOL!

So I hearted her shop..she pmed me about her wonderful project.. One Pebble Project. She would send me one of her delightful ACEO's of her little treasures..if I sent her a pebble. Well....how could I resist that?! But seriously..I wanted to send more than a pebble..so I drew a little dragon sitting atop the pebble I send. She sent me the beautiful ACEO of pebbles and a key at the top of the post. Beautiful..delightful..touches my little pebble puppy heart! Thank you hon..I loooove it!!!!

I hope she does not mind..cause she does such beautiful work(Amanda..I added a watermark)..that I added a piece of her work here..for you to see and adore! Beautiful!

William...an Obsession....and a bitsy giveaway...

Awwwww sweet William. I know huh..isn't he cute? Sweet kitty kitty. Once we have gotten our morning silly, kitten, crazies out of the way..and they are mild really. We are just a little love. He has taken to laying on me whenever possible. He has discovered that when I sit down to work with my lap desk..he can crawl up and lay around my neck as I work and he can snooze. Fortunately summer has been cool here..so it is not a problem. This winter it will be amazing...neck warmer..whoot.

I have been there alot this last week or so. Creating. Yes..more little gardens. Ya know I dearly love watching a creative idea evolve. These little gardens started with just the little shells..nothing fancy..just the pattern. Now there is a whole little population of critters and treasure.
A couple weeks ago I was working on this piece...

and one of my students saw it sitting on the art table and said..
"Miss Sarah..that looks like a "Z" for me..Zoe!!"
It sure did..so I made one for her for her birthday:)

When I get doing these..it is kinda like my trees..they just kinda flow where they want to and my pen follows. I had not thought of letters..or names..or hearts..Such a smart Muse I have! Don't ya love that. So...I have gotten a little obsessed with these...and unlike my normal self that pushes to complete seasonal stuff and think of the Fall and holiday season all July...I just kept making these little gardens...to see where it would go. I am loving it. My Muse must love me this summer..cause I sure love her! Here is to the Zen of relaxing into an idea! I would love your input here..do ya like them..should I go bigger..maybe a whole name...?

Kitty Kitty and Color on the WIP...

Here he is...the new kitty kitty! We have not agreed on a name yet..but we are working on it. Sweet and calm with a huge purr box! Love!! Thank you all for adding to the Kitten kitty! My kids send huge, happy hugs!

Lucy lu is a little worried..can you see it in her eyes! Poor pup. But they are working it it. The kit has made it clear..he is large and in charge..Luc is being good and waiting...kind of..ok she is trying. We are giving her lots of extra love!!

K... I finished the artwork on my first sample bag...working out the bleed. Seems pink bleed...greens not so much.
I am gonna sew it up today...and work on another for sale. So what do ya think??

There is one little fish on the back of the bag..he is swimming fast:)

A New Tote Bag WIP..Part One and Two...

So I am trying something new...well kinda. I have been working on canvas fabric...making tote bags. I thought the ocean gardens would lend themselves to this..so here is my first one. It is about 8 1/2" x 11" and will be in full color when complete. I will be working on the color part next. They are created in permanent pen..so they are washable. Easy peasy..just like I like them!! I have not figured out what little doodley things I will add to the bag..working on that..just getting the basics down first.

Of course it is sideways in the pics here..the signature will be on the bottom of the bag. Here is a little crab closeup! So what do ya think??? I would love some input..or ideas for doodley stuff to add.

Kitten Adoption Update..and some NEWS!!!!!

I wanted to update you on our latest project here at home. My kid are working on saving money to adopt a kitten at the local shelter. I am adding my help by offering a treat with each purchase from my Etsy Shop. An original ACEO created just you with your purchase..all proceeds are going into the Kitten kitty!! My other BIG news...I am officially a VANDAL!!! I am a student this fall at the University of Idaho...I am gonna finish my BA!!!! I am doing silly happy dances...I am so thrilled!! I might even go on and get my Masters. But the BA first...Child Development and Family Services!! OK..I am a little nervous too..but really stoked:)

A Special Offer..and a Kitten Kitty....

As many of you know..over Easter weekend our sweet kit Tink went missing. I wish I could say that she returned..but sadly she has not. The kids have been asking for a new kit..they miss her..and well I think maybe I am ready too. This weekend at the local farmers market..there were free kittens. They were wild little boys..and frankly I could not take one home. My kids were disappointed..but I wanted them to understand that you needed the right fit..and the cost of of new kitten etc.

So...we headed off to the local animal shelter. They were given an education...how very many little kits and adult kits that were waiting for a loving home. How seeing so many helped you find just the right fit for us! They needed to understand the cost and what was involved. So we loved on and petted the kits...we asked about the cost of adopting there $85.00 for a kitten. I know that seems like a large amount..but here is what you get for your money....
A kitten that has seen a vet..and is healthy & had it's first shots.
A kitten that has already been fixed.
A microchip implanted already.
The next vet check free!

We weighed this with the cost of getting a free kitten..with none of this at all..and then talked about the other costs..like flea treatments and food, litter etc. We decided the kitten from the shelter was the best choice! We arrived at a cost of about $140.00. Given we are catching up with bills etc...I told them we would have to work together and get creative if we wanted a new kitten. So here is what we came up with...they are adding all their pennies...working extra jobs and are adding their allowances. So far they have collected $18.00!!

Here is the part where I come in...

The kids asked me to help with my artwork..so this is what we came up with. All the sales out of my Etsy shop this next week or so..through say the 17th of July. The proceeds will go into the kids "kitty" for a new Kitten. What will you get from me if you find something you might like in my shop???....Along with your purchase you will receive a custom created ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2")just for you. Just tell me what kind of creation (within my creative style and in color) and I will create it for you! Fairies, witches, dragons, kits, oceans, etc..you know:)

So you will help out the kids( and me:) on the kitten quest..give a homeless kitten a loving new home..and get a treat from me. Please know there is no pressure here at all..I just a creative way to teach my kiddos about getting a new pet. Honestly I am kinda proud of them that they came up with so many ways to do this..and even suggested that I participate with the art..smart kiddos. Plus... I do Love Fireworks.....

OOOOOoooooo I do love fireworks. Our little city does it up right every year! We are able to see it right down our street..rather than join the mad crush by the lake! They also do a wonderful fireworks display the Friday after Thanksgiving..to kick off the downtown Christmas season! I love that..twice a year WHOOT!

We did a few fun ones at home too! Thank goodness Jim was home for the holiday..cause I really don't like lighting them myself..he is fearless!!

We have a huge parade too..another crush of humanity. But...when they are done downtown they circle back to the beginning right down our street...how fun is that. No crowds and all the fun!!! This scout leader was having a very animated discussion with the boys! I love that!!!

OK..someone tell me who this boy is..that looks like almost a man..with a mustache and well...OMG the deep voice. Geesh when did this happen. He is suddenly looking me in the eye..yikes!!! The girls are gonna love him at school this year!!

Of course Nonni is growing too..geesh where are my bricks for the tops of their heads..so they grow a little slower.

2011 Ocean Gardens Series..

I love doing these fun little ocean gardens. Little tide pools of ocean life. So here is my series for the summer of 2011. The first two and the last one are larger pieces...approx 6"x5". The rest of these are ACEO's..2 1/2"x 3 1/2".

This year I created them in pen and ink and colored pencil.

I will be posting them in my Etsy Shop tomorrow morning!!

I do so love the little fishes and bitsy crabs.

I think I will create a couple more of these on canvas fabric..to create tote bags with..with permanent markers for easy washing! Next up though..I think I will do an ocean scene with a mermaid or two and lots of sea life...hmmm maybe a humpback whale..what do ya think??

Now..this is not really something I tend to do..so it is a fun challenge. So here is my "Skyclad Witch". Of Smoking Computers and Wonderful Hikes....

K....last weekend my computer rolled over put it's little legs up in the air and died. Quick, very little drama and took all my pictures and documents with it. I will be honest..I had not had time to back them up of late...I am paying the price. Panicking in a huge way...I rushed to the rent a center and got myself a replacement. It was nice I could..I got a good deal. But....then there was the loading of programs and printers and camera programs..sigh. Of course my new little beast is a bit temperamental still. Needing a bit of wrangling and loving attention. We will make peace with each other in good time. So for now...I am pictureless..I have to float around and steal back my photos from several places here on line..ackkkkkk! But am feeling blessed to have been able to be back online with a new computer.

Jim was able...finally to get back home for a few days!!! Whoot! So last week was completely taken up with visiting with Papa and doing Father's day BBQ etc.. Was good to see him home..we missed him so!! We hope he will be back again sooner than last time!!!

I am on vacation this week..another WHOOT. So I took the kids on a hike. We are close to the lake and next to that is a large..well..hill. Tubbs Hill. About a three mile hike around it. The trail overlooks the lake..really is like being in the woods! I love that! Only a short mile from our house and into the woods you go!! I love where I live!! I really do. We had a good time.

Believe it or not I got a little work done too!! Some fun gloves..I love yellow (these are in my Etsy Shop). I also completed a commission piece which was dear to my heart!!

Our dear Jamie has asked us this morning.."What do you wish to begin?" As always..she touches something in my heart. So I am going to put it on out there. Here goes....

I wish to begin a children's book. One I will write and illustrate. I wish to pursue this with passion and joy! I have had a story rolling around in my head for a bit now..about a little dragon. About a year ago I attempted a story here online..and life happened and I found it hard to continue for many reasons. But this time..I want to begin and complete this one. This sweet dragon story for children. In color of course! So there it is my simple..and oh so complicated wish. What do you wish to begin today?

I am feeling better as summer approaches..thank you all for your sweet wishes for me! It helps so much!

Wishcast Wednesday....

It has been quite a while since I have wishcasted. Lots of excuses..no time, life changes..etc etc etc...not good ones..but there you are. I have not been wishcasting. So given how I have been feeling of late..scattered and sad...it occurred to me last night that I might want to get back to it. I know I am rather slow on the pick up at times..but anywhoo..here I am ...wishcasting. Jamie has asked us today..."What do you wish for your health?" Hmmmmmmm....

Having Jim gone for his job..and having taken the car..that has left me walking everywhere. To be honest I had been trying to get back in the walking mode for a bit now..but no car kinda forced the issue. So far in May I have done 75 miles and dropped several inches and ten pounds. So....I am happy for this to continue the way it is going over the summer..25-30 miles a week and 10 + lbs a month. I have changed my eating habits..mainly vegetarian. Some eggs and chicken in there now and again..but mostly vegetarian. Drinking lots of water..cut out lots of sugar and caffeine. So ...in that respect..I am doing well. WHOOOT!

Now...there is the issue of my emotional state..which I think needs a bit of attention really. The walking so much is helping..is meditative and the exercise makes me feel good and sleep like the dead LOL! It is funny how when life changes dramatically..you find out who really cares about you. When you might need something..like help..a ride...an ear etc.. how folks just kinda disappear. So..it was a bit of a small shock to find this occurring when Jim went to work..folks disappeared. Some of them, folks who I was really close to..I thought. Seriously I don't ask for much..but I have been a bit shocked to find certain people in my life unavailable completely. What is worse is when they offer to do something..then never show up. I was a bit thrown the other day..two miles from home, bag full of groceries, in the pouring rain..when a gal I know well drove by me opened her window..hollered "Hi Sarah" and then kept driving??! Sigh. I thought well..Sarah maybe you have to speak up and ask..so I did..and well the response was painful as well...too busy..can't right now. Will call you back..will get back with you..I know the drill really I do.

So I am struggling with this right now..feeling a bit alone. Frankly I am struggling with even sharing this. You know you have hit the problem right on the head when you sit all sobby writing a wishcast post..yup I pegged what I needed. I need to be ok with folks being this way, I feel the need to be clear headed about this. I need to find a way to process my hurt and move on and be ok with it all. It is a clarifying time for me..at least relationship wise. I was not prepared for it..but there it is. Cause I feel a bit like crawling under a rock and hiding..which seriously never works..I want to feel like Letting Fly with the warrior me again..she has taken off her armor and left her flank vulnerable. So there it is. My wish for this week. Thank you all..I have missed you. I feel better just being back in the fold.

Fun Stuff....

A couple of years ago I bartered about 50 heirloom iris. Traded daycare for perennials..I love that!! So they have been in the ground a couple years..and some of them are just getting around to blooming for the first time this year..whooot! I looooooooove this one! Look at that stunning green and white! Beautiful! I feel like I received a gift this week!!

As we are now walking instead of driving for a few months...we get to see more stuff around the neighborhood..like chickens..lots of my neighbors have chickens! So cool. And all the gardens and critters! As we were walking home one day we spied a dollhouse in a truck bed full of junk to be taken to the dump!

Being ever the bold one...I asked the fellow in the yard if we might have it. He was more than happy to have us cart it off..as it was in fact on it's way to the dump??!!
So here we have it..this sweet dollhouse that needs a bit of love and care..maybe a bit of paint..a few shingles..some love! Yup...I am gonna have fun with this one..and so is Nonni!! I love good finds:) Oooooo and by the way..I have walked 75 miles this month and dropped 10 lbs!!! WHOOOOOOOT!

Feeling a bit lost......

With all the changes this last few weeks...I am feeling a bit lost..like I am chasing my tail...three steps forward and two steps back kinda thing. Making progress..but reeeeeeeeally slowly. I feel a bit bogged down really. Not sad or blue..just kinda....struggling a bit. I feel like I have been missing in action here online as I have dealt with stuff. I am sorry guys..I will do better to come visit.

I am spending a great deal of my time doing this...walking and walking and walking. With no truck..I am doing from 5 - 7 miles a day. Once I got past the shin splints and really sore feet..it is ok. Actually it is good really. I have lost several inches in key spots (whoot) and I know it is keeping me feeling better emotionally. Not to mention my heart is very happy with me.

But I think what I am really missing..really needing is a bit of self care..cause I neglect that..as always. I need to do a bit more of this really..and breathe.

Cause I am always telling folks to remember to breathe..but guess who needs to be reminded now...yup is me! Despite all the stress..and there has been tons..and the changes..lots of those..and all the walking..about 57 miles so far...I am forgetting to take care of me.
So..please be patient with me all...I will be back on my game soon. I miss chatting and visiting..I will I promise! Hugs to each of you, Sarah

Sometimes we all need a break......

Sometimes...my kiddos have days like this. Cranky, tired, emotionally burned out days. With Papa gone for training..and loosing Tink..and all the walking..and changes right now. I had two very burned out kiddos. So what is a Mama to do?

Yup super Mama protection force field. We took a day each to stay home. Just Fox and I and today it is just Nonni and I. Some may argue that they should not miss school...yeah..not so much. What they needed was a day filled with extra love and attention!

Maybe making some brownies together.

A couple video games maybe. Yes..I do play a game now and again. "Little Big Planet" is way fun and I am not apposed to whacking a couple orcs!!

So sometimes all my kids need is just a little bit of Mama love to help them regroup!

Sometimes all we Mamas need is a wonderful day with them!!

Spring in Macro...

I seriously didn't think spring would ever sproing here! We had snow several times last week! But as soon as it warmed up just a little bit....bang..here it is! My lemon balm is happy!!

The tulips are popping. I hate it when Blogger turns my photos around..arggggg!

There is just something I find beautiful about macro shots of from above as flowers begin to unfurl..all those twists and curls..beautiful!!

I love hens and chicks..my favorite succulent! I love this color!

I think I love this bush because it is like Fall all spring and summer long! LOVE IT!

I kinda liked this shot too..the leaf is all twisted around the bloom of the tulip. I will go back tomorrow and see what it has turned into..interesting!

A Birthday...New ACEO's, a Nonni Picture and Sore Feet!

My beautiful Hanna turned 19 this week!! How she got that old is beyond me..cause really I am only 35..at least in my head LOL! Happy Birthday hon!!! Your Mama is really proud of you!! {{{Hugs}}}

I completed a couple little ACEO's this week(in my Etsy shop)..a couple fairies..cause it is fun...

and I love doing them! I have a couple commission pieces to complete (Whoot)also:)

Now and again I share a picture that one of my own has created...I love this one by Mhanon...so sweet. Her unicorn named Myah! I love her eyelashes!!

Just an end note here....I sooooooooooooooo need one of these! Am doing about five miles a day so far..and my tootsies are unhappy with me. They are a barkin'! But my heart and my butt are very happy with me so the pups will have to deal!

I am a sobbing wreck...I am heartbroken. Sometime Saturday evening...Tink just vanished. Gone..no trace of her. I am hoping that somehow she is ok and will find her way home...but..am afraid she has been taken or worse. We have contacted everyone we can think of and they all have pictures of her. She was not one of the kits that were picked up over the weekend or one of the poor kits that was hit and passed. She stays close to home..not a wanderer. As I run a daycare and am here all day..she is in and out all day. I miss her terribly..and the kids are heartbroken too.

So...if you have a minute today..could you please, for me, say a little prayer that she will find her way home to us!! Cause she is much loved and much missed!

Hoppy Easter!

I could not let the Easter Season pass without my annual bunny post! I do love bunnies! I have two a present..both started out somewhere else and ended up with us..which we love! A Dutch and a Lop. Bun the Dutch is about 6 or so and Bookie is about one I think ...and huge!!! She was suppose to be a mini..uhmmmm not so much!
Anyway...I wanted to create a few Easter Bunny smiles.

Friday My Town Shoot Out..Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day all!! This weeks subject over at FMTSO is..., Leaves, Branches, Dirt, Planting for Earth Day. Here in N. Idaho..we still have snow on the ground..it is still not above freezing most nights..and Spring is really slow in coming this year!

Last year on this day..the maple trees were popping..it looked like this! This year...not so much..just bitsy buds so far! This is the way it goes up here..always a surprise!I kinda like that!

Of course the moss is always stunning here..cause we live in the loamy Pacific Northwest. Deep beautiful woods here! Think "X Files"..or "Northern Exposure"..ackk am dating myself..ok "Twilight" works too LOL!

All the buds here are just waiting ..ready to pop.

Ok..so I love moss..I really do!

A little later this Spring..we will see some of this though..beautiful!

Is it me..or can't you just imagine a fairy peeking at you..I love this stump. Or...is it my Muse working overtime?? Hmmmmm....

I Need Your Input...and OMG SNOW??!!

Would you help me out here? I need your input please. Please click on the picture for a larger view :) I have started adding color to "The Bohemian Bean"..and I am stuck. I can't decide whether the season is summer..full green trees..or Fall with lovely colored leaves? What do you think? I would love to know what you think!! This is the first large piece I am adding to my little Everyday Witches town of Moon Hollow. This is a full 8" x 11" . The previous pieces in this series were 5"x5". So let me know what ya think..cause I love to hear from you all!!

Seriously???!!!! Yes it would seem..we are having more snow. I took these about 15 minutes ago..and now the snow..still falling is covering the ground! Geesh...there is about a 1/4" already. Someone needs to reawaken that groundhog!! Is it spring were you are??

We seem to be passing around a little flu bug...well at least Nonni and I have. I was down and out all day on Saturday. Nonni was up all night last night and will be in bed today. Nothing horrid..could have been worse..but well...ackkkkk. I hate the flu. I like it even less when my baby is down and out. Poor kiddo!

I so need a nap! Maybe I will get one..we shall see.
I hope tomorrow we will be back..feeling frisky and no one else here gets that nasty little bug!!

Friday My Town Shoot Out..

This weeks subject is...Temples, Churches, Synagogues, House of Prayer. I started taking photos of my favorite Catholic church. It is just a couple blocks away and is beautiful. We hear the bells daily...and I love them! When I started taking photos..seriously..I found to my surprise, that I adore taking photos of architechture..go figure!

What I didn't notice was....a huge, smeary fingerprint on my lens. Hmmmm.. wonder where that came from? So instead of tossing the whole set, and walking down there again..I decided to play with them instead.

This accounts for the slightly Gothic look to them. Sorry..I could not help myself!

A Few That Pleased My Eye....And a Job!!

Spring is popping.... all the bulbs are starting to create patches of color. All dripping with water droplets! I love to photograph water droplets. I don't like it when blogger turns my photos sideways..ackkkk!

Of course the robins are here..I love the robins!

The trees are starting to put out their seeds! I know because the maple seedlets are coming in my front door..like magic!

April Snow...REALLY!!

Seriously...snow..in April...yeah it happens here..it is North Idaho..emphasis on North. We don't care for it much..but it is not a huge surprise really. So we are dealing..sigh..it will melt soon..I hope.

Of course I am thinking that Tink was a bit more than annoyed. She is not a huge snow lover..unlike Lucy Lu who LOOOOOOOVES the snow!

Why is she the dog..well cause she loves goldfish...even lost ones...

is a blur and wicked fun to photograph...

Cause she knows when Mama is going off to the coffee shop or bank and that they serve special cookies just for her...

That she loves her kitty sister even though Tink could care less most of the time.

That being outside with her kiddos is the best..and that she can tell the difference between big and little kiddos and tailors her behavior to suit.

Cause her smile just melts my heart and I adore her...cause she is sweet and loving...and the patience of a saint.

No matter how cranky folks are..especially Mama..she still loves me!

Unicorns and Musing a bit....

A few weeks back I participated in a little doll pin swap. I had been wanting to try felting..and gave it a rip..it was fun and well..I was hooked. So....last week I bought some felting needles and hit the library for books..and YouTube...and this is what I made. Did you know you can learn to do almost anything on YouTube???!! A Unicorn..cause I love them..and it seemed the easiest thing to do. Cause I do so many horses and know the muscles and joints and all. Anyway..here she is..what do ya think? She is about 6"s high from horn tip to toe and about 4"s long from nose to tail.

I made her a little collar...cause she deserved something pretty..and a decoration for her tail also!

Here is her other side. Now I still am learning..and need to work on some technique..but this was sooooo fun..have to try again! What do you think I should do next?

I also made a couple new little dolls...acorn dolly..I like this one :)

So ya can't teach preschoolers without a whole bunch of this...patience. But this week I am trying to apply it elsewhere. Jim had an interview last week..we think it went well. We are waiting...to hear if he might have gotten the job. I am wickedly proud of him..finished his degree and now this!! WHOOT! We are being patient bears..we really are...is hard but are waiting.

Ok..giggle had to add this cause it made me laugh so hard!

Most of you know what this would mean for Jim and the family..so say a bitsy prayer would you..for him..for me..for us? Thanks all!

Friday My Town Shoot Out..

This week we get to choose or favorite subject from the history of FMTSO's. I adore a good macro..my favorite kind of photograph..but even more..cause it challenges me..is a good Bokeh shot. That sweet looking blur or sparkly background that appears out of focus..but still beautiful. This occurs when the photographer purposely changes the depth of field by using a shallow focus. Making either the closest or farthest item in sharp focus while the rest is blurry. A beautiful blur is called Bokeh.

So here are a few of my bokeh shots..that I like from my archives...

Tink....in Sepia..

Cause I love her...and that she is forever patient with me snapping shots of her. She sits still and poses for me. Cause I think she is beautiful and wicked smart..I thought I would feature her today. Sweet Tink. I took this one yesterday and it had been a while since I had played with photos..am busy girl! I used a sepia action and added some color to her eyes.

One of my favorite pics..this one can be found in my Etsy shop as a greeting card...giggle..ok I didn't tell her..shhhhhhh....

Another one of my favorites..had to use a telephoto for this one..so very serious Tink..we were stalking bugs. I think she was ok with this one. This one has been turned into a card too. You can find this one here...

I love it when she does this..looks a bit like a mop with paws..her favorite sleeping spot..even when the couch is full of kiddos..which is often.

It is that time of the year...the maple tree drops little sweet sap on the garage roof and the bumble bees come..and Tink chases them...giggle!!

Flowery Pincushions and Little Fairy Dolls....

Sooooo..I have been playing around with a few little ideas..yes my Muse is drinking way tooooo much coffee! I am not complaining..as I love a bit of variety. So...I make this little pincushion in a cup and pin saver saucer. I looooved this little set of cappuccino cup and saucer! Sweet, small and a delicious Spring yellow!

I made a few new little dolls as well..child friendly..the clothes are removable with no buttons or snaps. Created in the Waldorf style. I seem to have a thing for bitsy things...I loved doing these tiny little clothing pieces. Super fine yarn and a tiny crochet hook..so much fun!

Quilting Bee #2.2

Good morning all!! Welcome to spring..is it spring where you are? This morning we have a delightful mix of snow and rain..basically sleet..kinda. Which really is ok with me..cause I have a lot of inside stuff to do..so let it sleet! We have bits of color popping here, a few crocus..so beautiful. My rhubarb is unfurling in the front yard too!

My little cottage is a bit chilly here still..so we will meet inside, next to the fire place..where it is cozy! I have set out some delicious treats today and my local barrista has popped by to make you whatever your heart desires! Lets see, we have muffins today..delicious, hot, right out of the oven kind. Blueberry, banana, lemon and almond poppy seed, vanilla, chocolate, peach and mixed berry! I adore a good muffin. I have also set out some delicious Greek yogurt..oh my have you tried this yet? HEAVEN!! Granola of course and fresh fruit..mixed berries..cause they are delicious! So grab a plate and pull up a chair and lets get started! So glad you have joined me today!

Many of you know I am a cold weather gal..I adore the cool Fall and Winter and even Spring I enjoy. I am not so fond of summer. I tend to have massive garden guilt at this point in the year. Despite my joy at seeing things bloom everywhere..and I loooove my perennials..there is this huge weight that demands attention...weeds..and pruning..etc. Ackkkkk! Now I know this a pure joy to some..they cannot wait to head out and play in the garden. Ya know..I wanna feel that way..cause I really do enjoy it. But when I have spent the whole week chasing kiddos and creating every other spare moment..taking those last bits of time and weeding..just kinda puts me off. Sigh.

So I was thinking..what would happen if I just didn't..weed that is..or whatever it is that might have you stuck and not looking forward to whatever it is you don't look forward to? Why do we do this? Make ourselves crazy about stuff every year..to the point that we dread the season? Am I keeping up with the neighbors..who are all retired and have the time to putter and create amazing gardens? Is it that we are homeowners and that means...expectations that we will continue to improve the property..despite lack of funds? Hmmmm...or is is old tapes? My father had an amazing garden every year..both flowers and veggies!? What is it that drives me here to compete? Is it part of the whole idea I have in my head about what this sweet little cottage should look like when folks walk by?? Hmmmmmm...in my head it looks like this...ok am chocking back a giggle here.

My point here is this..often we drive ourselves and make ourselves miserable without even giving it thought. I have said several times in the last month that I was not ready for Spring and the garden guilt that will come with it. BUT..clearly I was not listening to myself. Cause a smart woman would have stopped and said..wait a minute..what is really bothering you? If garden guilt is bothering me..why do I keep planning what to do with the space in the yard that is not completed..not planted..etc?? Clearly I enjoy the process..so what about it makes me nuts? Really when it came down to it all it is time! A lack there of really. I only have so much time to go around and when summer hits..it is used up by the kiddos that fill my house everyday!! We play and do messy art and tie dye. I also micromanage young personalities all summer. Then in July I get started with the Fall and holiday artwork. Seriously there is little energy left to mess with the garden when I am done. When I look at it this way ...it is becomes clear that my expectations of my spring and summer time and the reality of what is available is a bit doodely wonkers.

So this week on Spring break..I will be seriously rethinking my spring and summer plans and time management. Looking for places that my expectations overwhelm the time available. Regrouping my expectations and maybe creating a more peaceful, less guilt filled summer! Cause really..don't we all want a little bit of carefree in the sunny season? My flowerbed maybe a bit more freeform..more little weeds with flowers..like chickweek..but I will be a more relaxed me by the end I think!

So how about you? Do you over book the summer..or maybe another season? Do you need to do some honest regrouping so the season will flow with a bit more balance? I would love it if you could share with us what your experience is!! Thank you for joining me today!!

Friday My Town Shoot Out...Yellow

Our subject this week on Friday My Town Shoot Out is... The Color Yellow! Have I mentioned I love the color yellow? That deep delicious shade of orangy yellow..like in the gum ball machines? Yes..yes I do!

Soooooooo..here are a few of my yellow flower shots. I know..archives again..but the weather is getting better and things are starting to pop out of the ground..and I will have more time..cause it is spring break tomorrow. Whoooooooot!!! I get a couple days off..NATURE HIKE!!!

Sweet Little Fairy Folk....trying something new!

So I was playing around with my sock yarn yesterday..and this is what happened..a little doll dressed in cozy garb. Maybe a little fairy? Can't ya see her wandering through the woods in the fall? Anyway I had so much fun making these bitsy clothing...am thinking I might just make a couple more little dolls! What do ya think?
